Metal Polisher/Buffer

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary: As a Metal Polisher, your primary responsibility is to prepare metal surfaces for finishing by polishing, buffing, and smoothing them to achieve a high-quality, smooth, and reflective surface. You will work with various types of metals, including but not limited to steel, aluminum, brass, and copper, employing different tools and techniques to achieve desired finishes. Attention to detail, knowledge of metal properties, and proficiency in using polishing equipment are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities:

1. Inspect metal surfaces to identify imperfections, scratches, or irregularities.

2. Select appropriate tools, abrasives, and polishing compounds based on the type of metal and desired finish.

3. Set up and operate polishing machines such as buffing wheels, belt sanders, rotary tools, and hand-held polishers.

4. Clean and prepare metal surfaces by degreasing, sanding, or grinding as necessary.

5. Apply polishing compounds evenly to the surface and polish in accordance with established procedures to achieve desired finishes.

6. Monitor the polishing process to ensure consistency and quality of the finish.

7. Remove excess compounds and buff residue from polished surfaces using clean cloths or brushes.

8. Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.

9. Perform routine maintenance on polishing equipment to ensure proper functioning.

10. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.

11. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of tools and materials.

12. Collaborate with other team members to optimize workflow and achieve production targets.

Qualifications:

1. Proven experience as a metal polisher or similar role.

2. Proficiency in using polishing equipment and hand tools.

3. Knowledge of different types of metals and their properties.

4. Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.

5. Attention to detail and quality craftsmanship.

6. Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

7. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

8. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

9. Physical stamina and the ability to lift and maneuver heavy metal parts.

10. Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and technologies.

11. High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in metalworking or a related field is a plus.
