CAM Programmer/Operator with turning and Milling Experience

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer with hands-on expertise in both turning and milling operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of precision machining, tooling setup, and G-code programming, as well as the ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings. This individual will work closely with production and engineering teams to ensure high-quality, efficient machining of components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program CNC lathes and mills using G-code and/or CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Gibbs CAM, Fusion 360).
  • Set up, adjust, and operate CNC turning and milling machines to produce precision parts according to specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and CAD files to determine machining requirements.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and speeds/feeds for materials and part geometry.
  • Perform first-article inspections and make necessary adjustments to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot machining and programming issues to improve efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for setups, programs, and tool lists.
  • Ensure machines are properly maintained and assist with routine maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate with engineers, quality inspectors, and production supervisors to meet project deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience programming and operating CNC lathes and milling machines.
  • Proficiency with G-code and CAM software.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and materials (steel, aluminum, plastics, etc.).
  • Ability to read technical drawings and use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience with multi-axis (4- or 5-axis) machines.
  • Background in a production or prototype machining environment.
  • Familiarity with ISO quality systems or aerospace/automotive standards.

 

Monday thru Friday, 7:30 to 4:00 with occasional overtime.

Reliable transportation and a valid NC/SC driver’s license are required. Our campus operates out of 5 buildings and driving to another building is always a possibility.
